Pastor Jan Zagorski
Rev. Jan Alexander Zagorski
Father Zagorski was born June 22, 1959, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father was a Navy pilot and his mother worked as a Navy nurse. This resulted in frequent moves during Father Jan’s childhood, but he mainly grew up in Gulf Breeze, FL, and spent 18 years in New Orleans, LA. Father Jan has an older brother, Raymond, who lives in Clarkfork, Idaho, and a younger sister, Patricia, who lives in Houma, LA.
Prior to receiving his Master's Degree in Divinity from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, LA, in 2002, Father received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston in 1993, and earned a Master's Degree in Social Work from Jackson State in 1998.
Father Jan was ordained May 18, 2002. His first appointment was as Parochial Vicar at St. Bede the Venerable located in Montgomery, AL. In 2003, he was appointed Administrator of St. Robert Bellarmine in Atmore, AL. In addition to his duties at St. Robert Bellarmine, in 2004, Father Jan was appointed Administrator of St. Agatha in Bay Minette, AL. He was later appointed Pastor of St. Agatha, in 2006. Father Jan also served as Catholic Prison Chaplain for Holman, Fountain, J.O.Davis, and Atmore Work Center Correctional Facilities in Atmore, AL, from 2003-2007. Father Zagorski is a Fourth Degree Knight. On June 1, 2007, Father Jan was appointed Pastor of St. John the Evangelist in Enterprise, AL, and also served as Pastor of St. Mary, in Geneva, AL.
Effective September 22, 2009, Father Jan became the Pastor at St Joseph Catholic Church, in Prattville, AL. Father Zagorski relieves Father Phillip McKenna, who faithfully and lovingly served as parish priest for the past decade. The Most Reverend Thomas J. Rodi, Archbishop of Mobile, will install Father Jan A. Zagorski as pastor on Sunday, January 10th, 2010, at the 11 a.m. Mass. A reception in the Family Life Center will follow the Mass.
